SPERAD

Introduction

Unattended backup of data on pertec interface hosts is now possible with the high capacity SPERAD subsystem.

By emulating ½" 9 track tape drives the compact unit enables modern high capacity SCSI devices to be attached to the pertec tape interface on a wide range of host platforms.

Through the tape deck emulation the SPERAD subsystem is able to be connected as a direct replacement to the existing device making software modifications and additional internal controllers unnecessary.

Features

The SPERAD is equally effective in system backup and real-time data storage applications such as radar and process control/monitoring.

With capabilities between 1.3Gbyes and 14.0Gbytes available using 4mm/8mm tape or magneto optical the SPERAD controller enables unattended backup to become a reality.

Many tape decks can be directly replaced by the SPERAD subsystem giving an extended life to proprietary systems dependant on existing peripheral technology.

4mm The DAT solution gives a capacity of up to 8Gbytes. The low cost compact cartridges ensure economical storage when utilising the highly cost effective 4mm Pertec solution.

8mm The Exabyte solution offers a high 14Gbytes capacity making the unit ideal for unattended backup.

Magneto Optical The M/O solution offers the greatest emulation performance when spacing and tape movement is intensive. The almost instantaneous rewind and spacing makes the subsystem ideal in real-time environments.
